In the writings of Kazi Nazrul Islam, the words of peace
of Ramadan was resonated. The topic of Ramadan is very important in the poem
titled 'Keno Jagaili Tora'-
"As mahe Ramadan has arrived,
‘Shabe Kadar' will come,
Rahamat will
come at the dust of earth.........
I have seen -
your festival of Eid-Moon has come, -
Call Him, weep
for Him.
I'm not ‘He’-
if ‘He’ wants it,
The sun will
rise, it will be morning of every body with me.” [Translated]
Ramadan month is a religious holy month
of the Mushlim. But there is a lot of public interest about this holy month.
Although it is a religious programme of Mushlims, it has universal significance.
What is the
meaning of 'Mahe Ramadan’?
"Ramadan" means the month of Ramadan. The word
'Ramadan' comes from the Arabic word 'Ramaz'. 'Ramaz' means burning. If Ramadan
is observed in the month of Ramadan, people's greed, lust, sin, jealousy and
disorder will be
burnt itself. The man who fasts in this month, has the privilege
of erasing all his sins. The fasting in the Mushlim manner at the month of
Ramadan is called ‘Roja’ of Ramadan. Ramadan is one of the pillars of Islamic
base. These five pillars are the foundation of Islam. These are: 1.Imman 2
Prayer 3 Zakat 4. Fasting 5 Hajj. Ramadan month is based on the moon sighting. It
is 29 or 30 days. In this month Muslims are excluded from drinking wine and sexual
relationship with wife. This is called 'Siam' in Arabic and 'Roja' in this
country.
What is the
importance of Ramadan?
The significance of Ramadan is immense.
It is known about its importance through the holy Koran and Hadith. The doors
of Paradise are opened in this month and the doors of Hell are closed.
For whom has
the fasting of Ramadan been relaxed?
Ramadan fasting has been relaxed in the case of old,
sick, pregnant, diabetic patients and menstruating women. Fasting on the minor
children has been relaxed. The sick person, who is unable to fast, will feed a
poor person. Unintentional break of fasting is not punitive.
What is Iftar?
After the sunset or after the Azan of the Prayer of
Maghrib, Iftar is made. During Ramadan, after the fasting of the day, those who
take the food during the sunset eat it as Iftar. In Ramadan, everyone takes
Iftar sitting together. They start Iftar by eating dates. Iftar is started by
feeding most of the water in our places and in many places by eating wet rice. Food
of tray to make Iftar is sold in the market during Ramadan before the Prayer. Date, ‘Piyaji’, ‘Beguni’, ‘Muri’, jilpi, fruit etc. are
quite popular as iftar food.
What is Eid-ul-Fitr?
Fasting of Ramadan ends with Eid-ul-Fitr. Eid-ul-Fitr is
a fun festival for charity, restraint, and self-purification. After a long
month of fasting or fasting, Muslims celebrate this day very much with
religious duties. They make harmony between each other.
----- Why is
the date of Ramadan changed every year?
Ramadan is the ninth month, according to the Islamic
calendar. Every year the Islamic festival comes forward 11 days. There is no
mystery behind it; there is a perfect calculation of astronomy. Arabic calendar
or Hijri year is 11 days less than the year of English or Gregorian calendar.
Every month of Hijri begins with the day of first moon. The time taken by the
moon to circumnavigate the world is 29.5 days equivalent to the English calendar.
But since the month is not the fraction of the day, so the Arab month is in 29
or 30 days subject to moon sighting. Total number of days in 12 months is 29.5
x 12 = 354 days. But the English calendar is calculated with solar years. It
takes about 365 days to turn the earth around the sun once again. So the
difference is 365 - 354 = 11 days. So Ramadan calendar comes 11 days ahead of
the English or Gregorian calendar year.
Why is Ramadan
month very sacred?
Ramadan is not a normal month like the month of another
month. It is very sacred and month of goodness. This month is full of religious
sentiments. The Qur'an has been revealed this month. This month the gates of
Paradise are opened. The entire Muslim religious people tried to reach out to
the great Creator in this holy month. In this month the gates of Hell were
closed and the demons were kept in captivity. So in this month the heart, mind,
and spirit of the holy people are concentrated on the great Creator.
What is the
best night in Ramadan than others?
The Qadr night is the best night in the Ramadan than
thousand nights. In the last ten days of this month, the Qadr night is hidden.
Muslims forgot the sin and forgiveness from hell, Muslims ate mosque in mosque.
In addition to the Night of Qadar, every night of this month, every day and
every moment is very holy. According to belief, the person who is away from the
Qadr night, is very unfortunate.
What are three
parts of Ramadan?
Ramadan month has been divided into
three stages. The first ten days of Ramadan are filled with mercy. The second
ten days are filled with forgiveness and the last ten days are to find the way
to get rid from hell. But all this depends on the realization of the
significance of this holy month.
What is the
significance of ‘Roja’/ ‘Siam’?
It is to be remembered that ‘Roja’ is not just a name not to eat from
morning to evening; rather it is actually a name of meditation. The main
purpose of fasting is to attain the virtues of attention. It means to fear the
Creator, to love, to obey his orders, to make himself corrected. There is no
meaning of ‘Roja’ for the person who tells lie and makes fraud. For this
reason, self-control is the essence. The big education of Ramadaan is to
exclude all covets, greed and lust. That's why enough patience requires. It is
essential to be tolerant of each other and to express sympathy to each other.
Is the month of
Ramadan really the month of the acceptance of prayer?
Ramadan is the month of acceptance of
prayer. According to belief, the prayer of every Muslim is accepted in this
month.
What is the
message of Ramadan?
In recent years, jealousy, animosity
and bloody struggle among citizens are increasing day by day. Ramadan's true
consciousness as well as fraternity, tolerance, patience can help us to
overcome this crisis.
